NASA may intentionally crash Galileo into Jupiter according to this <a href="http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/ap/20000302/sc/galileo_plunge_1.html">story</a>. Since Galileo is nearing the end of its useful life as its energy resources are nearly depleted, NASA wants to make sure that Galileo does not crash into Europa by accident and contaminate the moon. Since there is growing speculation that Europa's ocean could harbor primitive alien life of some kind, this is a good move by NASA. You wouldn't think that any form of baterial life could survive on Galileo considering the hellish radiation that exists near Jupiter, but it's best to be safe...
